Last week, on February 6th, Sara Feasel and Joyce Helfers came to New Palestine High School for a convocation. The convocation was for juniors and seniors. Students had the opportunity to learn what sex trafficking is, who is at risk, and what they can do to protect themselves. Joyce informed students about the dangers of sex trafficking and what they can do to take precautions. After Joyce finished her presentation, a survivor gave her testimony. She talked about how she got into sex trafficking as well as how she is recovering. She recently graduated from a recovery program at The Hope Center. Sara finished the convocation by telling the students more about The Hope Center. Students also had the chance to sign-up to volunteer or take a tour of The Hope Center. There was a booth at lunch for students to get more information or sign-up. We had many students sign-up to volunteer individually as well as one of our choir groups and one of our athletic teams. Students could pick up a pamphlet and get the number to a hotline if they were involved in sex trafficking and needed help. Also, on February 7th, we held a booth before school. Students had the opportunity to get a red X written on their hand in honor of the End It Movement. This concluded our project with The Hope Center and the End It Movement.
